Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Reduce to make less trash whenever possible!

Some ways to reduce:

  • Buy items with a small amount of packaging.
  • Use china or plastic dishes which can be cleaned and used again instead of paper products.
  • Use lunch boxes made of fabric, metal or plastic instead of throw-away paper bags.

Some ways to reuse:

  • Sell used items at yard sales.
  • Give used items away.
  • Composting

Some ways to recycle:

  • Rinse and sort recyclable containers and put them into a clear plastic bag or trash can.
  • Put recyclable paper items into a trashcan, brown paper bag, or clear plastic bag.
  • Recyclables should be taken to a transfer station or picked up by a professional hauler.

The following recyclable items should be brought to a transfer station:

  • office paper (in a separate clear plastic bag)
  • scrap metal
  • yard waste and compost
  • household batteries (Ni-cad, AAA, AA, C, D, 6 & 9 Volt, Button)
  • used motor oil
  • electronics (computers, monitors, terminals, tvs, cell phones, etc.)
